Chaats are everyone’s favorite and I am no exception to this. I made this on one Sunday for evening snack. My daughter loves Sweet potato and I give it to her in some form or the other in her diet. I have made this recipe with simple ingredients and time taken for this recipe is also very less. You can follow the recipe using potato as well. I am following the recipe given to me by my friend who makes this frequently at her home during fasting. They call it Shakkarkand Ki Chaat. Sweet potatoes are rich in fibre, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Manganese, Phosphorous and copper is also found in ample quantities. They play a good role in protecting against prostrate cancer and promotes fertility. They are easy to digest as well. I also make Vathakuzhambu with this which is very tasty. Choose sweet potatoes which are small to medium as they turn to be sweet and creamy. The skin should be firm, smooth and even toned.
The chaat turned out to be delicious and super soft. I have added onions in this, but when you are fasting, you can avoid it. There are a lot of variations in this chaat. You can deep fry or shallow fry the sweet potato pieces. Similarly you can add hung curd and serve. It gives a cooling touch to the recipe. Toppings can be boondi or sev as per your liking. This street style chaat recipe will be a sure hit among kids, young adults and one and all. You can always adjust the spice level as per the liking of your family. I have tried this a few times for kids parties and each time it is a grand success.
