No Onion No Garlic, Snacks

PALAK PAKODA

Palak Pakoda is a crispy and spicy snack made with Spinach leaves. Loaded with iron and other minerals, this fritter recipe is much apt to grace any party or simply for a tea time snack. All the ingredients used in this recipe are available easily in your pantry and it requires just a few minutes to make this delicious snack. Usually it is Onion Pakoda that Ravi likes for a weekend snack, but he enjoyed this very much despite the fact that it didn’t have any onion added in it. It’s a good idea to serve this as a starter also. Even if it is not raining, we all like to munch this at any time of the day. The best accompaniment to this is Filter Coffee or Ginger Cardamom Tea.

I have served this with Tomato Chutney but Coconut Chutney would also be good. Some people add a bit of corn flour while mixing the batter, but it is purely their choice, even the method followed here yields good results.

You can try adding many ingredients such as broken cashews or raisins to give a nice twist to the recipe. Also you can make this with Amarnath leaves in place of palak or any other greens you like. For any snack crispiness is most important and for that always ensure to add hot oil or ghee to the mixture while kneading. This will make the pakodas stay crispier and crunchier. For an evening after school snack, this would be just great. You can also try adding green chilly paste to the batter in place of chopping and adding them, if children or elderly persons are going to eat this snack. Make this tasty recipe as an evening snack and let me know the results.
