PATTANAM PAKODA

Pattanam Pakoda is a tea time snack, crispy on the outside and very soft inside.Unlike ordinary pakoda it is made with roasted gram flour and rice flour with onions and spices.I have also added powdered peanuts for crunchiness.Ordinary Onion Pakoda uses gram flour and rice flour.I don’t know why it got it’s name but I presume it is because it is sold in city shops.Pattanam is city in Tamil so that’s the story.Anyway I made it because I love all kinds of pakodas and my husband is also fond of them.Unlike other pakodas this is slightly round and bigger in shape.

I have also added ghee in this pakoda which gives a soft texture in the centre.Coconut Chutney which is made thick also called as getti chutney is an awesome combination to be had with this pakoda.I also made masala chai the day I made this and it was a super hit at home.I have witnessed small shops selling these in small towns of Tamil Nadu during evening time. This will be selling as hot cakes and everyone will have their own share bought wrapped in papers.I have tried to incorporate the same taste as in these shops.Do try and enjoy the rainy season.
