LUNCH MENU IDEAS-1

I have always wanted to post Lunch Menu Ideas for a long time now.The recipes which have been displayed here are the recipes which have already been published in my blog.I plan to post these on weekends so that it might be easier for the readers to plan the menu.As it is a regular feature at home of friends dropping by for lunch or dinner,I have included the recipes which I am most confident in and love making them too.As yesterday was the first day of Tamil month of Aadi,we had a small offering for the GOD and therefore it was a No onion No Garlic meal.Yet it was delicious, fulling and sumptuous platter. The menu was a Tamil South Indian meal full of delicacies.I made a few recipes which are little time consuming, yet if prepared with proper planning, can be made and enjoyed to the fullest.

I have made the following recipes.Click on the link to view the individual recipes.

1.Paruppu Payasam

2.Vazhaikai Podimas

3.Capsicum Tomato Raita

4.Brinjal/Kathrikai Pitlai

5.Tomato Rasam

6.Menthya Manga Pickle

7.Rice

Vazhaikkai podimas can also be replaced by Potato Podimas. Also you can use carrots or cucumber while preparing raita in place of capsicum. While preparing pitlai you can add ash gourd or bitter gourd in place of brinjals. Also if you take rasam, you can make any rasam like Jeera Rasam or Pepper Rasam. Pickle can be of your choice.

Whenever there is an elaborate meal is to be made,we get tensed at times about the time and effort involved.I normally plan the meal previous day itself,so that you have all the ingredients available readily. For this meal,I set to make the Payasam first and made Vazhaikai Podimas simultaneously.I soaked tamarind for the Pitlai and Rasam and and started making them.Last came the turn of raita. Pickle was made a day earlier and I kept rice in cooker lastly so that while eating it will be piping hot. This way if you plan your meal,it will be a tasty treat for your family and friends and you can finish it off in no time.Dear friends!!Do let me know what you think of the platter.Your feedback and comments mean a lot for improvising my blog.Keep tued in for more Lunch Menu Ideas on weekends.
