CURRY LEAVES SEVAI

dsc08197-002

Curry Leaves Sevai is an excellant breakfast or evening snack recipe which is an easy to make and filling meal.Usually I make Curry Leaves Rice or Karuveppilai Sadam which has abundant iron content and gives an aromatic feel to the dish.I stumbled upon this idea when I wanted to make a new dish and was left out with no groceries but a bunch of curry leaves. This can be made during fasting or vrat days, where onions and garlic are not eaten. Most kids throw away the curry leaves and are unaware of the health benefits it adds to our body. This is an easy way of making children eat this wonderful herb called curry leaves.

I have made many recipes with sevai or idiyappam. Check out my recipes such as Lemon Sevai, Pepper Sevai , Tomato Sevai and Instant Puli Sevai. You don’t need a side dish as chutneys but it would taste great with coconut chutney.I have used Savorit Brand.Coming to the benefits of curry leaves again, it is packed with carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorous, iron and other minerals. It helps in heart function, fights infection and aids hair growth. My traditional recipes such as Karuveppilai Kuzhambu and Karuveppilai Thogayal also have Curry leaf benefits.

I have added for taste while tempering cashew nuts and peanuts. You can add both or add either one of the two.I learnt from a cook book that keeping the powder corase adds to the taste and gives a nice nutty and crunchy feel while biting.Do try it out and let me know.
