Ingredients
  • 2tsp Channa dal
  • 1tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 2 red chilli
  • 1tsp black pepper
  • 1tsp Jeera / Cumin
  • 1cup Chick Pea/Vella Kondakadalai
  • 1/2tsp mustard
  • 1/2tsp urad dal
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1 red chilli
  • 1/2tsp red chilliPowder
  • 1/2tsp turmericPowder
  • 1/4tsp asafoetida
  • to taste salt
  • 3tsp coconut(grated)
  • 1sprig curry leaves
Instructions
  1. Soak chickpeas in water overnight.
  2. Next morning,pressure cook chickpeas in water by adding salt for 3 whistles.
  3. Dry roast the ingredients given in the to roast and grind table.
  4. Transfer the ingredients to a blender.
  5. Powder the things coarsely.
  6. In a pan add oil,mustard,urad dal.red and green chilly,curry leaves and asafoetida.
  7. Add boiled chickpeas,roasted powder,grated coconut,red chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt.
  8. Mix evenly.
  9. Chickpea Sundal/Vella Kondakadalai Sundal is ready.

Notes

  • You can roast the coconut and grind with the other ingredients to add a nice crunch.
  • Soak chickpeas overnight to cook them faster.
  • You can use coconut oil for more flavour.
