Rava Kozhakattai is a tasty sweet with coconut and jaggery filling and semolina covering on the outer.

  1. In a bowl add rava, maida and salt.
  2. Adding water slowly knead the flour.
  3. Rest for a while.
  4. Take a lemon sized ball out the dough.
  5. Roll it and cut it into small roundels with the help of a lid.
  6. Meanwhile in a pan add water and jaggery and allow it to boil.
  7. Once it starts boiling filter it and again boil till it gets thicker.
  8. This is how it gets thicker.
  9. Add cardamom powder.
  10. Add now grated coconut.
  11. Mix well til moisture is absorbed.
  12. Now place a small portion of the filling in each roundel.
  13. Shape it like a modak and bring the ends to the centre.
  14. In a pan add oil and when it gets heated slowly drop in the modaks.
  15. Fry till golden brown.
  16. Offer it to the God and enjoy.
Recipe Notes

You can add wheat flour in place of maida. Rest the dough for at least 20 minutes. For better results knead the flour nicely.
