Ingredients
  • 1/2cup Moong Dal
  • 1tsp Mustard
  • 1/4tsp Ginger
  • 4tsp Coconutgrated
  • to taste Salt
  • 2pinches Asafoetida
  • 1sprig Curry Leaves
  • 2 Red Chillies
  • 1tsp Oil
Instructions
  1. Soak moong dal for an hour.This speeds up the process.Or you can directly cook in an open vessel.
  2. Let it boil and check at regular intervals.
  3. Once cooked properly sieve to remove water.
  4. Moong dal should be as shown.
  5. In a pan add oil and put mustard seeds,red chilies ,ginger asafoetida and curry leaves.
  6. Now add cooked moong dal.
  7. Add salt and grated coconut.
  8. Mix well.
  9. Yummy healthy Payatham paruppu/Pasi paruppu/Moong dal sundal is ready for Neivedhyam.

Notes

You can add a pinch of turmeric as that will impart a bright yellow colour.

You can add some lime juice as well.

Adding green chillies in place of red ones is other option.
