Ingredients
  • 1/2cup maida
  • 2tsps Rava
  • 1pinch cooking soda
  • 1tsp ghee
  • 1/2tsp sugar
  • 1pinch salt
  • 1/3cup water
  • 1/2cup sugar
  • 1/2cup coconut(grated)
  • 1/2Gram dalRoasted – cup
  • 1/2tsp cardamomPowder
Instructions
  1. Sieve maida,salt and cooking soda.
  2. Add rava. and mix well.
  3. Add sugar now.
  4. Adding water knead to a soft and pliable dough.
  5. After 10 Minutes make small balls out them.
  6. Meanwhile let us make the stuffing.First of all dry roast coconut.
  7. Once cooled transfer it to a blender with sugar and roasted gram.
  8. Pulse it at repeated intervals to a nice powder.
  9. Using the balls which we had made earlier roll it out like a chapathi.
  10. Place the filling inside.
  11. Take a press or mould for sweet somas.
  12. Place the rolled out dough or stuffing inside this mould.
  13. Press gently with your fingers.Remove the outer layer simply by peeling.
  14. Take the somas out.To give shape with the help of a fork make impressions on corners.
  15. Heat oil in a pan and drop in karjikais one by one.
  16. Once golden brown take them out.
  17. Repeat the same for all karjikais.
  18. Delicious sweet somas ot somasi or Karjikais are ready.Enjoy and share it with your loved ones.

Notes

You can use copra in place of coconut.

In place of sugar,you can add powdered jaggery.

You can also pulse and add any nuts of your choice in the filling.
