Ingredients
  • 1cup urad dalBlack
  • 4tsp Rajma
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2tsp Jeera / Cumin
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1/2cup tomatopuree
  • 1/2tsp turmericPowder
  • 1/2tsp red chilliPowder
  • 1/4tsp ginger(grated)
  • to taste salt
  • 1tsp dalEastern Makhni Powder
  • coriander leavesto garnish
  • 1/4cup milk
  • 1/4tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 1/4tsp fennel
  • 1/4inch cinnamon
  • nutmega bit
  • pinch methiKasoori a
Instructions
  1. Soak black urad dal and rajma overnight in the water.
  2. In the pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  3. Mash with the help of the back of the laddle.
  4. In a pan add oil followed by jeera,green chilly,ginger and chopped onion.
  5. Add tomato puree,red chilli powder,turmeric powder and eastern dal makhni powder.
  6. Add cooked dal and salt.
  7. Mix well.
  8. Add milk and simmer for some time.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  10. Dal Makhni or Maa Ki Daal is redy.Serve with rotis or rice.

Notes

  • I have used Eastern Masala Dal Makhni Powder here.If  you don’t get that masala add the ingredients given in table.
  • Adding milk ensures a creamy texture to the dal.
  • Adding garlic pod also enhances the taste,but I haven’t added as I don’t like it.
  • I f not using tomato puree,make freshly pureed tomatoes at home.
  • Adding cream also enhances the taste at the end.
