  1. Soak aval/poha in water for half an hour.
  2. Strain and keep it ready.
  3. In a small pan add a teaspoon of ghee and fry cashews and raisins and keep them aside for garnishing.
  4. In the same pan add soaked poha and fry a bit.
  5. Add water and cook till it softens.
  6. Once soft add sugar,cardamom powder and food colour.Mix well and let it cook for some time till moisture is absorbed.
  7. Now add rest of the ghee.
  8. Add cashews and raisins.
  9. Tasty Aval Kesari is ready.Enjoy it hot.

Notes

Though I have used thick aval,you can use thin aval too.

Be sure that aval is properly cooked before adding sugar otherwise the poha grains will remain seperate.
