Dosa Varieties, Millet Recipes

VARAGU DOSA

Dosa is a favorite at home,be it any type.I make it for Breakfast,Dinner and at times pack for lunch too. This Dosa is made from Varagu, tamil name for Kodo Millet. As we all know millet recipes are becoming increasingly popular due to their health benefits these days.As you might have seen in my blog I have made a few Millet recipes and plan to post more in the near future. These millets can easily be substituted for rice and many recipes can be made with this.Besides dosa ,idli, pongal, payasam, pulao or biryani can be made with these wonder millets. One of my friend who is a diabetic, simply mixes the cooked millet with sambhar, rasam and curd etc. and eats as we do with white rice.

Millets were in vogue in ancient times and their benefits were forgotten, but nowadays people are slowly getting into the habit of using them efficiently in their meals.I have Thinai Adai and Foxtail Millet Pongal in my blog which was so tasty and all enjoyed at home. The good part is that besides being light on the stomach, these are filling too. These are so good in the preparation of sweet recipes and I plan to post some payasam recipes for navarathri. Varagu is gluten free, helps in digestion, controls cholestrol and sugar and aids in treating cancer.I plan to make millet recipes weekly hereafter. These days millets are found in all provision stores and departmental stores. You can also order them online. The dosa making with the millets were easy and I enjoyes making these and eating them too.Over to the recipe of Varagu Dosa or Kodo Millet Dosa.
