Ingredients

Urad Dal Flour
water

asafoetida

Jeera / Cumin

tsp
sesame
White
to taste
salt

butter

tsp
coconut
(grated)
Instructions
In a wide bowl add rice flour,urad dal flour,jeera,sesame and asafoetida.Now add butter,grated coconut and salt.
Adding water and oil and knead the dough.
Make small balls out of the dough and place on a clean towel.
Put them in a pan of hot oil.
Once golden brown take them out.
Drain excess oil with the help of an oil strainer.
Uppu Seedai/Salt Seedai is ready for offering to LORD KRISHNA as naivedhyam.

In order that seedais don’t burst sieve rice and urad dal flours well before use.
Rice flour should not be wet,dry roast it before use.See preparation of homemade urad dal and rice flours following the link given.
Don’t roll the balls too tight,as it might cause the balls to burst.
After rolling out seedais spread them on a dry towel or newspaper to absorb moisture in them,as the wetness in them may also cause bursting.
If planning to use seedais for longer time dry roast cococnut and use.
