HOMEMADE TAHINI PASTE

Tahini paste is an essential ingredient in any East Mediterranean or Middle East countries and some parts of North Africa. It is made from the condiment white sesame and the recipe involves a mere four ingredient the details of which you can see in the recipe section. It is used in many delicious dishes namely Baba Ghanoush , Hummus and many others. As the tahini paste available in the market is a bit costly, you can make this easily at home and store it.The ingredients needed for the recipe is easily available at home and the good part is you can store it for at least 2 months in the fridge.

 

Tahini based sauces are very common in Middle East and sometimes it is added to lemon juice and garlic to add a nice flavour. In Greece, tahini is used as a spread for bread. In East Asia however this paste is used in dry noodles. So you can say this wonder paste is put to so many uses in different countries for a variety of dishes. Since it is a very versatile paste, you can also experiment it in a variety of salads and it gives a real nutty flavor to the Salad because of the sesame seed.

Tahini because of the nutty sesame is rich in proteins and abundant in Calcium. It also has lower levels of sugar and saturated fats. Tahini paste is a healthy dip that can be easily added to a variety of Indian dishes as well such as cutlets and sandwiches. Instructions
  1. Dry Roast sesame on a pan till it emits a nice aroma.
  2. Switch off the flame once done.
  3. Once cooled add it to a blender and add some oil.
  4. Add salt.
  5. Grind to a smooth paste. ..
  6. Transfer and use it.
Recipe Notes

You can use it for a variety of salads. You can avoid oil as sesame itself has some oil. Grind it slowly.
