POORI MASALA

This Poori Masala is the one they serve in the restuarants along with hot pooris.This is purely a south indian style side dish for poori.Though sometimes i serve this with hot rotis as well.If you don’t make it watery and keep the potato masala a little dry you can serve this with rava idly as well.This dish is a hit combo when served during breakfast.I made this last week for our brunch.Let us see how this is made.

Instructions
  1. Cut onions and keep aside.Boil and peel the potatoes.
  2. Boil and peel potatoes.
  3. Take a pan and add oil and mustard.Now add channa dal and green chillies.
  4. When done add turmeric powder and onions and saute well.
  5. Add boiled potatoes and salt.
  6. Mix well with water to get the desired consistency.
  7. Poori Masala is ready.
  8. Enjoy with hot and fluffy pooris.

Notes

You can add peas or tomatoes to this dish while sauteeing onions.

You can add half a squeeze of lemon while garnishing.

If the masala is watery add a mixture of besan/gram flour and water.
