MYSORE PAK

There are certain sweets which occupy an important role when served at any special occasion.Mysore Pak is a classic sweet of South India and is made at almost all celebrations.It is also said it is one of the difficult desserts to make and requires much expertise.I have seen mom making this as a child’s play and wondered many a times if I could attempt it even.It so happened that when last week when some friends came home for a small gathering,I choose to make these golden squares.I made this the previous day itself so that I can concentrate on other things the next day.I was quite happy with the results as it turned out to be a tasty affair.

There are many recipes which come with a place’s name such as Mysore Bonda,Mysore Rasam,Tirunelveli Halwa,Chidambaram Gothsu,Delhi Badhusha to name a few.Mysore Pak is also one such recipe and is enjoyed to grace any occasion.It is made of gram flour and sugar with ghee.The consistency of the sugar syrup and mixing with the roasted gram flour plays an important part for this recipe.Once You have tried this 2-3 times,you will master this.And the delicious Mysore Pak squares will be ready in no time.It took me a while to achieve the sweet success of making this recipe until I found perfect recipe for the same.So here it goes..

Instructions
  1. Sieve gram flour.
  2. In a pan add little ghee and roast gram flour.Set aside for later use.
  3. Make sugar syrup using,by adding sugar and water.
  4. Wait till reaches one string consistency.
  5. Add roasted gram flour.
  6. Mix well without forming lumps.
  7. A nice paste will be formed now.
  8. Add ghee and mix well.
  9. Let it bubble away for sometime.Keep on stirring without leaving the laddle.
  10. Once it leaves the sides of the pan switch off.
  11. On a ghee greased plate pour this mixture.
  12. Cut into squares once cooled.
  13. Enjoy this sweet with your dear ones.

Notes

If you like you can add cardamom powder for flavour.

Mix quickly after adding gram flour so as to avoid lumps.

One string consistency is an important factor,so take care to reach that consistency.
