LITTLE MILLET UPMA

I have been on a break for a long time now since Diwali as I was travelling. But after all that hectic tour and festivities it is good to be back blogging again. After all this is one of my satisfying things to do. Millets are spoken nowadays in all households and slowly people are taking interest in making and consuming them. This is Little Millet which is gluten free and easy to digest as well. I have made a few recipes with millets such as pongal, dosa and adai. But there are a lot of recipes to make these wonder grain. Children have to be taught the goodness and importance of these as the new generation have taken to fast food. This recipe can be made for breakfast as well for dinner. The variations are endless and the addition of vegetables adds nutrition as well as colour.

I have made this recipe with Nirlep Selec + brand fry pan. This recipe uses less of oil due to the non stick coating of the pan and heats the bottom quick. Though I have not made any accompaniment to this upma, you can have it with chutney or  sambhar. This fullfilling and healthy dish was consumed without any fuss and it was easy to make as well. Trying out new recipes with millets are not only good but it also helps us to understand the dishes made in olden days. With the new fancy western recipes becoming increasingly popular, it is high time we spread the knowledge of our age old secrets of Indian cuisine. Millet flours are also gaining importance and you can try out a lot of variations in this. Try out the millet recipes  at least twice a week to make your lifestyle more healthier and tastier.
