DRY KARA PORI

Pori or puffed rice is one thing i always have in stock in my home.Daugther loves Bhel puri and besides making that,i also make this Dry kara pori.It is so simple and healthy snack to munch on at time of the day.My hubby always like to have some snack after dinner. Moreover the IPL season is here so he wanted something as a midnight snack. It was raining here last week in Bangalore, thanks, they were sure welcome showers to beat the rising temperatures for the last 4 weeks.i made it last week. This is called murmure here too and a little different from the ones they sell in the beaches. This is dry so you can very well store it for over a week.Over to this spicy yet flavourful recipe.

  1. In a pan add oil and when it gets heated add the peanuts and fry till golden brown.
  2. In the same pan add roasted gram and toss well.
  3. Now add all the dry powders except turmeric powder such as red chilly powder,,asafoetida, salt, cumin powder[optional] and black pepper powder. Also add curry leaves.
  4. Switch off the flame. Now add pori/puffed rice.If added when stove is on,the puffed rice will shrink and will not taste nice.
  5. Now add turmeric powder.I learnt very late[better late than never] that if turmeric powder was added before i.e. when rest of the dry powders were added they whole thing would turn black. This has happened to me many times. At last I found out the secret!
  6. Yummy Kara Pori is ready .YUM YUM YUM....Enjoy it as a midnight snack as we did or as an evening snack.Truly guilt free.
