CORN ANAR CHAAT

DSC00780-001

These days I am making and eating a lot of chaats or salads for those sudden hunger pangs. This is one such recipe which was a truly innovative one, which was made almost instantly with the available ingredients at home that day. When one evening when I was thinking of making something with evening coffee, I found some leftover corn and a pomegranate fruit lying in the fridge. I also had some karaboondi and lo! A tasty recipe was born with added spices at home. This was a nice surprise when Dhivya came back from college and she enjoyed it to the core. I have not added vegetables in this but  if you want you can very well add grated carrots, chopped cucumber and boiled potatoes too. The more veggies and fruits, the more merrier. You can use your imagination and add many things such as sev, Green chutney or Black pepper as well.

As this turned out to be a super duper at home, I had to make some more the following weekend when some of my friends came for lunch. The bursting of flavours with sweet, spice and salt hitting you tongue is a tasty experience for sure. You can make this as a salad and avoid adding kara boondi and include more vegetables or fruits of your choice. The same salad can be served in bowls or placed in canapes and served. Similarly you can place the salad on roasted papad too. You can also add hung curd and make it delicious. But be sure Since people are getting health conscious these days, these  salads come as blessing to treat your loved ones with variety. These are easy to make and can be made under 10 minutes. So what are you waiting for? Go and spring in to action in your kitchen.
