AKKI ROTI/RICE ROTI

 

Akki Roti is a rice based roti with minimal ingredients and an easy preparation.Being in Bangalore for quite sometime now i sometimes indulge in making kannadiga delicacies too which is loved by all at home.I wanted to make this roti for long and when my neighbour told me the recipe one day,i quickly gathered the  ingredients and made it the same night for dinner.It tasted so good that with the left over dough Ravi wanted to pack that for next day’s lunch as well.Yeah!I made it.The joys of feeding your loved ones and that too if it turns out to be a success is immeasurable.Now let us see how this roti is made.

Instructions
  1. In a bowl d rice flour, chopped onions, grated ginger, coconut and carrot, cumin seeds, turmeric powder.red chily powder, green chillies.coriander leaves, asafoetida and salt.
  2. Add water and knead to a soft dough.
  3. Now take a small ball and place it on a plastic sheet or a zip lock cover.
  4. Flatten it in the form of roti.
  5. Heat a tawa drizzle some oil and put the rotis.
  6. Flip and cook the other side.
  7. Serve hot with coconut chutney.

  • Notes
  • You can add chopped cabbage in place of onions.
  • Don’t knead the flour by applying pressure as it will result in breaking of rotis while roasting.
  • Skip green chillies if giving to children.
