TOMATO RASAM

 

 

One of the daily menu items in our food,this rasam finds place in all South Indian households.My family is not an exception and I do make one rasam variety or the other each single day.Rasam is a comfort food to many and tomato rasam here is so easy to make fast to do is that it will appear as child’s play.I have quite a few rasam recipes in my blog but this one is the usual variety which I end up preparing most of the time, I found that it was not there in my blog.So here goes Tomato Rasam recipe.

Instructions
  1. Soak tamarind in water and extract juice.
  2. Place cut pieces of tomato in a blender.
  3. Blend tomato into juice.
  4. Add the tomato extract to a vessel.
  5. Add sambhar powder,salt and asafoetida to the above mixture.
  6. Give it a nice boil.
  7. Cook tur dal and mash well.
  8. Add both dal and it's water to the boiling rasam.
  9. In a tempering laddle add oil followed mustard and jeera.
  10. Once it crackles add it to the boiling rasam.
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves
  12. Tomato Rasam is ready to be served.Enjoy with hot steaming rice and any vegetable of your choice
Recipe Notes

Notes

After switching off add a teaspoon of pepper and jeera powder for more taste.

Tempering in ghee gives extra taste.

You can serve in soup bowl and enjoy it as a starter.
