RIBBON PAKODA

This is an easy snack recipe made during diwali at almost all homes.It requires less time to prepare and very easy to make.I make  this once in a month since my hubby likes it very much.Amongst the various varieties of snacks that i make now and then i like to make this very much as the squeezing of the dough is very easy in this recipe.

It was a long time since i made this and so thought will post as well.If you are preparing a large quantity make in batches and knead the dough fresh each time to ensure the crunchiness and crispiness of the snack.Now let’s see how ribbon pakoda is made.

  1. In a mixing bowl add rice flour and gram flour.Add red chilly powder,salt,asafoetida,sesame seeds and lastly ghee/butter.
  2. Knead to form a soft dough by adding water little by little.
  3. Take the ribbon pakoda acchu shown here for making this.
  4. Fill the dough in the press.
  5. Heat the oil and when it gets heated slowly squeeze the dough on to the oil.Flip to other side and wait till hush..sound subsides.
  6. Take out on a tissue paper.
  7. Enjoy it as an evening snack with hot cup of coffee or tea.

Notes

Some people add ground green chilly in place of red chilly powder.That will give a lighter colour to the ribbon pakoda.

You may replace 2 cups besan to 1 cup besan and 1 cup roasted gram flour.
